HD

HD stands for High Definition, and it simply means a sharper, clearer picture on your screen.

You know how old TV shows from the ’70s and ’80s look a little fuzzy compared to what you see on TV today? That’s the difference HD makes. Everything looks crisper — faces are more detailed, colors are more vivid, and text is easier to read.

You’ll see “HD” pop up in a lot of places … when you’re shopping for a TV, choosing a video to watch on YouTube, or looking at webcam specs. It’s basically a way of telling you, “This will look nice and clear.”

You might also run into the term 1080p, which is sometimes called “Full HD.” It’s just an even sharper version of HD. And if you see 4K, that’s sharper still — though honestly, for most everyday things like video calls and watching shows, regular HD looks great.

The easiest way to think about it: imagine looking through a window that has a smudge on it. You can see what’s outside, but it’s not perfectly clear. HD is like someone cleaned that window — now everything looks sharp and bright.
