Redirect

A redirect is when a website automatically sends you from one web address to another. This usually happens if a page was moved, renamed, or deleted. Website owners use redirects to make sure visitors don’t get stuck on broken links and are taken to the correct page instead—without having to do anything.

It’s like getting forwarded mail. If someone sends a letter to your old address, the post office makes sure it still gets to you at your new one. A redirect does the same thing online, quietly guiding you to the right place behind the scenes.
