Clipboard

The clipboard is a temporary storage area in a computer’s memory that holds data that has been cut or copied for pasting elsewhere. It allows users to easily move text, images, or other content between documents or applications.

Think of the clipboard as a digital clipboard you might use in real life. Just as you can temporarily store papers or notes on a physical clipboard while you move them from one place to another, the computer’s clipboard holds copied or cut data until you’re ready to paste it.
