Only one is real. I know this because I took it myself.
My photo is of two Bottlenose Dolphin leaping out of the water at the Dolphin Research Center in the Florida Keys.
The other 3 images are AI-generated. I created them using Ideogram.ai and ChatGPT.
Which one do you think is the real image? See the answer below!
The real image of the dolphin is:
Image #1
Some clues that give away the AI images:
🌊 1. Water Splash Logic
Real (Image #1): The splash is chaotic and unpredictable, with smaller droplets spraying in all directions and a clearly visible wake where the dolphins left the water.
AI (Images #2, #3, #4): The water splashes are too neat or feel copied. In #3 and #4, the splash forms a “perfect V” under each dolphin—way too symmetrical to be real. In #2, the water lift looks unnaturally sharp, like it was rendered.
🐬 2. Dolphin Anatomy
Real: The dolphins in #1 have natural muscle definition, realistic fins, and believable motion. Their bodies are slightly different from each other (as you’d expect).
AI: In #3 and #4 especially, the dolphins are too smooth and shiny, almost like rubber toys. In #2, one dolphin’s flipper blends oddly into its body, and their shapes are eerily similar.
🏝️ 3. Background and Structures
Real: The background in #1 is detailed but not overly sharp, with natural lighting and people casually interacting in the scene.
AI: In #2–#4, some structures look off.
👀 4. People and Details
Real: Image #1 includes people clearly interacting with the environment—standing naturally, with believable posture, lighting, and clothing folds.
AI: None of the other images have visible people. AI often skips people or blurs them out entirely to avoid drawing attention to anatomical inconsistencies.
The Dolphin Research Center is a hidden gem of the Florida Keys. The non-for-profit does incredible work with both dolphins and humans. Find out what makes this place so special in this short video:
