Smart Glasses

Smart glasses are eyeglasses with technology built into the frames… a tiny camera, speakers, a microphone, and sometimes a small display tucked into the lens. They look like regular glasses (mostly), but they can take photos, play audio, answer questions, and even translate a foreign menu while you look at it.

Think of them like a hearing aid that went to college. A hearing aid quietly does one job from the side of your head. Smart glasses cram a handful of jobs into something you wear on your face, so you can snap a picture or ask a question without digging out your phone.

Why should I care?

For years these were clunky and gimmicky, but the 2026 versions are lighter and actually useful… real-time translation, turn-by-turn directions whispered in your ear, and hands-free help if your hands are full of grocery bags.

There’s a flip side worth knowing: because they carry a camera on your face, the people around you can’t always tell when you’re recording. If you buy a pair, that’s a courtesy to keep in mind… and if you’re near someone wearing them, now you know what that little light on the frame might mean.
