Grandma Joy’s Viral Road Trip

Brad and his Grandma Joy had a falling out after his parents divorced. After not talking to one another for 10 years, they reconnected and now have an amazing relationship.

So much so that the two of them set out on a quest to visit all 63 US National Parks!

This quest came out of a conversation they had one day when Grandma Joy told Brad she’d never seen a mountain. When Brad asked his grandma if she wanted to go see the Great Smoky Mountains with him, she replied:

“What time are you picking me up?”

That started an 8-year adventure of them travelling together. Grandma Joy climbed mountains, rolled down sand dunes, and went zip-lining and white-water rafting.

In 2023, at the age of 93, Grandma Joy and Brad visited the National Park of America Samoa, reaching their goal of visiting all 63 national parks!

Early on in their adventures, Brad set up a Facebook page called Grandma Joy’s Road Trip.

The page went viral and Grandma Joy became a bit of a celebrity. She’s made countless TV appearances, been featured in AARP The Magazine, and often gets asked for her autograph… and lots of hugs!
