2.5 Ways To Use ChatGPT That’ll Blow Your Mind

Imagine asking Leonardo da Vinci what he thinks about self-driving cars. Or planning a day trip where your guide is Sherlock Holmes.

Leonardo Da Vinci in a self-driving car

Sounds wild, right? Welcome to the world of ChatGPT.

Many folks use ChatGPT to draft emails, whip up social media posts, translate languages, get coding advice, and even recommend what to binge-watch next. All very cool, but let’s be honest, you could do most of that with other tech tools too.

But here’s the thing: treating ChatGPT like a turbocharged Google or a fancy text generator is like using a Swiss Army knife to just open your mail.

Sure, it works, but you’re missing out on a whole lot of awesome tools hidden in there. Imagine using that same knife to scale a mountain, survive in the wild, or carve a miniature sculpture of your cat.

Now that’s revolutionary!

The real magic of ChatGPT is that you can do things with it that’ve never been possible before. And below, we’re going to look at 2 ½ ways to use GPT in ways that will blow your mind.

So, buckle up and prepare to be amazed. You’re about to discover some mind-blowing ways to use ChatGPT to do things you’ve never even dreamed of.

Spoiler alert: your life is about to get a whole lot more interesting – and a lot more fun!

1. Have a “Conversation” with a Historical Figure

Imagine getting insights on aging and philosophy from Socrates or discussing art and creativity with Leonardo da Vinci.

With ChatGPT, you can (sort of) do just that. Here’s an example:

Let’s say you’d like guidance on how to begin a new artistic endeavor, including practical tips and motivational insights.

You could start with a prompt like this:

Please answer the following as Leonardo Da Vinci. Can you give me some advice on starting a new creative hobby, like painting or drawing?

Here’s what “Leonardo” responded with (I asked ChatGPT to limit responses to 2-3 sentences for the sake of brevity here:

Ah, starting a new creative hobby is a splendid endeavor! Begin by observing the world around you with curiosity and detail. Practice regularly, be patient with yourself, and let your imagination guide your hand.

This becomes a jumping-off point that you can follow up with and take in whatever direction you want. I followed up with:

What observational techniques do you recommend? How can I be more observant as I’m out and about in the world?

“Leonardo” responded:

To be more observant, focus on the details that others might overlook: the play of light and shadow, the intricate patterns in nature, and the expressions on faces. Carry a small sketchbook and jot down or sketch what catches your eye, sharpening your ability to notice the finer details in everyday life.

Obviously, you’re not really having a conversation with Leonardo, but ChatGPT takes into account all that’s been written by and about him to get as close to a real conversation as possible.

It’s a fabulous way to get ideas, have an interesting conversation, and spark some creativity!

2.  Create Your Own Personal Board or Mastermind Group

You don’t have to limit yourself to just one person. Where things get even more interesting is when you can get different viewpoints on a topic.

For example, you can run your current investment strategy by a board made up of Benjamin Franklin, Warren Buffet and Suze Orman.

Or let’s say you’re looking for ways to make a more positive difference in the world once you retire. Specifically, you have come up with a plan to create a mentorship program where seniors teach their skills to younger generations.

You can enter a prompt like this into ChatGPT:

I am starting a mentorship program where seniors teach their skills to younger generations. What are the best ways to structure this mentorship program to be beneficial for both mentors and mentees? I’d like some candid feedback on this idea. I’d like to get this feedback from a few different perspectives, specifically those of Ghandi, Mother Theresa and Jane Addams.

Imagine having a personal Board of Directors made up of Gandhi, Mother Theresa and Jane Addams

Here’s what GPT came back with:

Candid Feedback from Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Jane Addams

Mahatma Gandhi: “Your idea to bridge generations through mentorship is commendable. To ensure its success, emphasize the principles of mutual respect and learning. Both mentors and mentees should approach the relationship with humility and openness. Encourage mentors to not only teach but also to listen and learn from the younger generation’s perspectives. This reciprocal relationship will enrich both parties and foster a deeper sense of community.”

Mother Teresa: “This mentorship program has the potential to bring immense joy and purpose to both seniors and young people. Structure it with a focus on compassion and understanding. Pair mentors and mentees based on shared interests and values to foster genuine connections. Ensure that the program includes regular check-ins and support for both mentors and mentees, providing them with the tools and encouragement they need to succeed. Small acts of kindness and patience will go a long way in making this initiative meaningful.”

Jane Addams: “Your program is a wonderful way to build intergenerational bonds and strengthen community ties. To be effective, it should be well-organized with clear goals and expectations for both mentors and mentees. Provide training for mentors to help them develop their teaching and communication skills, and create a structured schedule that includes regular meetings and activities. Evaluation and feedback mechanisms will also be essential to ensure continuous improvement and address any challenges that arise. Most importantly, foster an environment of mutual respect and learning where both mentors and mentees feel valued and supported.”

You can take things to the next level, however, with a prompt like this:

Where would these 3 perhaps have conflicting ideas or advice for this? Please create a conversation between them where they discuss their conflicting ideas and respectfully stand up for their ideas and advice in the face of counterpoints from the others.

Read the fascinating conversation that resulted from that prompt:

Conversation Between Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Jane Addams on Mentorship Program

Gandhi: “I believe that the essence of this mentorship program should be mutual respect and humility. Both mentors and mentees must approach each other as equals, willing to learn and grow together.”

Mother Teresa: “Gandhi, while mutual respect is vital, I think compassion and understanding should be at the forefront. Many young people and seniors might come from troubled backgrounds. The program should provide not just skills but also emotional support and kindness.”

Jane Addams: “Both respect and compassion are crucial, but we must also consider the practical aspects. The program needs a structured approach with clear goals, training, and regular evaluations to ensure it runs smoothly and meets the needs of both mentors and mentees.”

Gandhi: “Structure is important, Jane, but too much rigidity might stifle the natural bond that should develop between mentors and mentees. We must allow space for organic growth and understanding.”

Mother Teresa: “I agree with Gandhi. The human element is paramount. However, Jane, your point about training is valid. Mentors need guidance on how to approach sensitive issues with empathy and patience.”

Jane Addams: “I understand the importance of organic connections, but without a framework, there could be inconsistencies in the experiences of participants. Regular check-ins and feedback can help ensure everyone is benefiting equally.”

Gandhi: “Perhaps we can combine our approaches. A flexible structure that sets the stage for respect and compassion while allowing for organic relationship growth might be the solution.”

Mother Teresa: “That sounds wise. We can have initial training and guidelines but encourage mentors to adapt based on their unique relationships with their mentees. The support system should also be in place to address any emotional or personal challenges.”

Jane Addams: “Agreed. A balanced approach with flexibility, structure, and a strong support system could address all our concerns. We can evaluate and adjust the program as needed, based on ongoing feedback.”

Gandhi: “This way, we honor the dignity and potential of both mentors and mentees while fostering a nurturing environment.”

Mother Teresa: “And we ensure that everyone involved feels valued and supported, creating a truly compassionate and effective mentorship program.”

Jane Addams: “Exactly. By integrating our perspectives, we can create a mentorship program that is both structured and heart-centered, ensuring its success and sustainability.”

Would the conversation have really gone like this? I don’t know, but the point here is the ideas and differing points of view it can spark for you.

2 1/2. The Power of Specificity: Planning a Fun Day for Grandkids with ChatGPT

When you use ChatGPT, the more specific your prompt, the better the response you’ll get. By giving more details, you can get personalized responses that you can’t find by searching Google or browsing websites.

Here’s an example of how a grandparent living near Seattle can plan a fun day for their grandkids by sharing specific details about them.

Example Prompt

Let’s say you have two grandkids:

  • Ages: 7 and 10
  • Hobbies: The 7-year-old loves animals and nature, while the 10-year-old is fascinated by science and loves building things.
  • Favorite Foods: Both love pizza and ice cream.
  • Other Key Details: They are both very active and enjoy outdoor activities.

Here’s how you can structure a detailed prompt to get the best possible plan for a fun day:

Specific Prompt:

“Hi ChatGPT, I’m a grandparent living near Seattle and I want to plan a fun day for my two grandkids. They are 7 and 10 years old. The 7-year-old loves animals and nature, and the 10-year-old is fascinated by science and loves building things. Both of them enjoy pizza and ice cream. They are very active and enjoy outdoor activities. Can you suggest a detailed itinerary for a fun day that includes activities they would both enjoy, and some great places to eat?”

ChatGPT’s Response:

Morning: Woodland Park Zoo

  • Start your day at the Woodland Park Zoo, which opens at 9:30 AM. It’s a fantastic place for the 7-year-old to enjoy seeing a variety of animals in naturalistic habitats. Don’t miss the Zoomazium, a play space for kids to explore and learn about animals and nature.

Lunch: Pagliacci Pizza

  • After the zoo, head to Pagliacci Pizza for lunch. They have a variety of pizzas that both grandkids will love, and you can enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere.

Afternoon: Pacific Science Center

  • Next, visit the Pacific Science Center. The 10-year-old will love the hands-on exhibits and IMAX movies about science and technology. Check out the Tinker Tank, where kids can build and experiment with different projects.

Snack: Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream

  • For an afternoon treat, stop by Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream. They have a variety of flavors that will delight the grandkids and give them a little energy boost for more fun.

Evening: Gas Works Park

  • End the day with a visit to Gas Works Park. It’s a great place for the kids to run around, fly kites, and enjoy the beautiful views of Seattle’s skyline. Bring a picnic blanket and some light snacks to relax and watch the sunset.

By providing specific details about your grandkids, you can get a personalized and engaging plan that ensures a memorable day for everyone.
