The Pickleball Legend Who’s 95 and Still Winning

She Didn’t Jump on the Trend… She Started It

While the rest of America is arguing about whether pickleball is a sport or a public menace, 95-year-old Joyce Jones is busy doing something radical: winning tournaments.

Everyone’s bragging they “just got into pickleball.”
Joyce politely nods and thinks, “That’s adorable.”

She’s been playing since 1965 — long before it was cool, trendy, or spawning neighborhood noise complaints. She learned the game from one of the inventors, Congressman Joel Pritchard, who casually created pickleball in his backyard like it was no big deal.

Meanwhile, Joyce Has Been Out Here Collecting Medals

She’s competed in over 100 tournaments across the country. One quick glance at her trophy haul and you’d think she was running a small jewelry store out of her living room.

In the interview she says:

“I’m kind of proud that I’m still 95…and not only playing in tournaments…but winning in tournaments.”

This is the soft-spoken equivalent of a mic drop.

She’s now heading to Utah to play in the Huntsman World Senior Games, and we’d bet our lunch money on her!

Why We Love This

Joyce isn’t using pickleball to “stay young.” She’s using it to stay Joyce.

She’s sharp, she’s active, she’s competitive, and thanks to modern media, her story is inspiring millions who didn’t realize “95 and still crushing it” was an option.

The Little Lesson Here

Tech brings stories like Joyce’s straight to our screens — reminders that age doesn’t get to tell you when you’re done trying things, or done winning things.

If Joyce can play (and win) at 95, you can absolutely try something new on your phone without apologizing first.
